Eileen Younghusband’s second book, Men I Have Known charts her life through the extraordinary men she has met during her 91 years – from Rex Harrison and Dylan Thomas to members of NASA and Idi Amin.
Not a straightforward autobiography, the book is a tribute to the variety and different skills and characters of the huge range of people she has met during her long and rich life, which gives a unique perspective on many of the most influential men of the twentieth century in fields as diverse as music, writing, drama, catering and science.

Eileen’s War was published just a few weeks before Eileen’s death in September 2016. Eileen saw the children’s book as her ‘legacy’ book. On the day of its release she said: “It is my hope that all children will read my book. I think it is really important to engage with young people about World War II. It’s a pivotal moment in our history. If my story can live on from generation to generation this will be wonderful.”
